A signature cocktail just makes people excited. And by people I mean ME. At a wedding, it is an easy opportunity to show more creativity with your guests and enhance their overall experience. Regardless of the drink or the occasion there are a few things I recommend.
- Keep the Drink Simple : The bartenders will thank you. Having a signature drink means you will probably need a lot of them right away, and if I am there, you will need to keep them coming. If the drinks are too complicated, it just results in long lines and frustrated guests. As with everything I suggest, just keep it simple.
- Make the Drink Pretty : You went through all this work to choose the perfect signature cocktail, now make it look good!! Take time in what glassware you choose, what garnishes are adorned and what color you are going for. Stir sticks and striped straws are easy additions to make any drink adorable. If you can’t decide on one drink, choose a few drinks in the same color tone for a more elegant look.
- Don’t Make it a Shot : You do not want people floored before the cake is even cut, especially at a wedding where the drinks start at cocktail hour and last throughout the evening. If you serve drinks that are too strong you are only encouraging you guests to go home early (in a cab).
- Don’t Forget About Those that Don’t Drink:Don’t make your guests that do not drink feel like they are missing out on something customized and fabulous. It is SO easy to create a fun punch or creative mocktail. It can be served in a cute glass and have an adorable name just the same.
