Happy New Year !! I know its that time where everyone is making resolutions and goals for the new year. I haven’t quite decided on mine yet. I guess my goal is to figure out what my goals are. Everything is at a good place right now. I love my husband, our new loft and expanding Stacey Lynn Design. However, I always want to grow and explore. Its the Gemini in me. So what does 2012 have in store for me ? Only time will tell, but I hope it is continuing momentum and constant improvement.
Oh yeah! It also happens the be the first Weds of the month, Wine Wednesday!! Ok, I may have missed last month, but who is counting. For those of you new to the blog, Wine Weds is the one day a month I allow myself to write about my true love of wine. It usually results in very little about the actual wine, but more of a time for me to digress and reflect on the little things in life.
On Christmas night, my husband and I drove out to Solvang where we spent the next few days wandering around the San Ynez valley wineries. It is an area that is close enough to home, yet far enough to get into vacation mode. Los Olivos is just charming and houses some of the best cupcakes in town that I previously wrote about here.
My husband and I are now official members of the Saarloos and Sons Wine Club so it seems only appropriate that this Wine Weds to begin the new year be dedicated to them. I cannot say enough good things about this family owned and operated winery. The tasting room itself is so darn cute, I get design tips every time i step inside. The wine bottles have names and labels that usually represent a family member, both past and present. It is hard not to feel connected to wine here. Right after we signed up, we were told, “You are wine club members, you are family now, you can do whatever you want”. I love that and I will take that as an open invitation to use the tasting room’s bathroom anytime I am in the area. (they seem so hard to come by in Los Olivos) I don’t have a particular wine to write about this time around as they have all been very good to us. We have a few special bottles tucked deep into our wine fridge, so maybe I will fill you in later when they get opened. For now, if you go to Los Olivos, GO check out Saarloos and Sons. You will not be disappointed.
I wish you all the best in 2012.
