If you follow my blog, you already know I am a designed focused planner, which means I care about the aesthetics just as much as the organization. I work with my clients to help define their vision and give guidelines on how to get there. A lot of times, I am creating mood boards, helping with custom design pieces and defining colors and themes. This however, is not what makes me different than most planners.
It is important to note that in addition to design, I take the logistics extremely seriously. For weddings, I don’t give out vendor recommendations until I have time to meet with my couples and get to know them on a personal level. Once I understand their style, personality and budget – I get to work. I put together an extremely customized list based on individual needs. I work with a TON of ridiculously amazing and talented vendors, but that doesn’t mean they are the best fit for everyone I work with. In fact, there are photographers that I wish I could work with everyday because they are friends and make weddings so much fun for me, but that doesn’t mean they are the right style for all of my clients. I take this part so seriously. The fact that some planners get a “kick-back” and make money by referring certain vendors is just not something I can participate in. The last vendor document I sent to my bride was over 6 pages long. I write personal notes on why I like each vendor for their wedding, appropriate example links and I give about 3 options per category. It is enough where my clients still have a choice, but they don’t have to weed through a bunch of examples that aren’t on par with their style or budget. It is definitely not the easiest way of doing things, but it is my way.
If that sounds detailed, you don’t even want me to get started on my timelines. I will save that for another post.
So as an update, things are going great. We are booking 2014 weddings at a record pace and it looks like 2013 will shape up to be a great year. Thank you all for your love and continued support!
