As a wedding planner, I probably should have taken care of this ages ago. Currently (almost 2 years after my wedding), the dress you see on me above is sitting in my closet, and if I remember correctly the bottom is close to black from my adventures running in fields and shuffling on the dance-floor that evening. I don’t really have a desire to sell it, and there is NO way I would be able to fit in it for a “trash the dress” photo session, so I guess that leaves cleaning and preserving it. (For what… who knows..) But that is what I plan to do.
After some google searches, I came across some sites that offer dress preservation for about $150. You ship them the dress and it is returned to you like new in a preservation box. To be honest, the majority of these sites need a major overhaul in design. I have never been so nervous to input my credit card information …. But after some yelp review searches, they seem legit AND I have new-found hope that my dress will look like new again. I will let you know how it goes!!
