How couples decide to spend their wedding budget is always a bit fascinating to me. Everybody is different but most everybody is always looking for ways to save. In theory, there is nothing wrong with that, but sometimes I am just confused. Weddings are expensive. I get it and I have been through it myself. So yes, it is important to establish a budget and identify what is important to you in your wedding. It all makes sense until we get to one category. Hair and makeup.
One area where I always see brides wanting inexpensive options for is hair/makeup. I just don’t get it. After all the thousands of dollars go into the creating the perfect day, for some reason, brides usually get lost in the cost of hair and makeup. I encourage them to take a step back. The difference in price between someone who is a master at this, and the inexpensive option is smaller than you think.
A good hair/makeup team is irreplaceable. For starters, they know how to schedule their time and can get the entire wedding party complete without running behind and messing up your entire timeline. Wedding makeup artists are experts in understanding lighting and giving you the right amount of coverage that will look good in photos, but also light enough where you look natural with all of your guests. They also have the right tools to keep your makeup in place all night long. And if you aren’t used to wearing a lot of makeup or want something that is more natural, it is even more important to hire the best. Hair stylists have a gift of being able to place your veil so perfectly that you can remove it easily without all the hairstyle coming down with it. They also are able to master hair that stays put through all the dance floor wear and tear.
When it comes down to it, there are a lot of places to be creative and save money throughout your wedding. However take my advice, bridal hair and makeup is the place to splurge not save.
