I posted this image on my instagram yesterday, but I wanted to explain it a bit more. It represents some crafting going on in preparation for our wedding next weekend that is taking place at Carondelet House in Downtown LA. I have been working with the bride and groom almost a year on this one. Is there a theme? No. Yes. No. Well… there are many.
I’ve talked about this a lot on the blog, but I don’t like over the top themes that are super obvious in the first 5 seconds of looking around. But I do LOVE infusing personalized elements that create a unique and inspired wedding throughout. There is a difference. My couple, Emily and Brett, like playing board games together. It is a part of them that we wanted to infuse in the wedding decor. That being said, they are an extremely sophisticated and refined couple. A bunch of board game decor would be so out of place (and gross…) Getting to play with this theme in a creative way is where I get to do my thing.
The scrabble tile holders you see in the picture above are going to be cut down and spray painted gold. They are going to hold place cards which will not be of scrabble tiles, but handwritten names on Seed Paper. Their guest book will be jenga pieces displayed in an industrial tool box, and their Table Assignments will have vintage Dominos displayed on a large slab of wood filled with gorgeous calligraphy.
Overall, the touches of gaming are unique and purposeful, but there are a lot of other elements of their life together we wanted to represent throughout the day. We are bringing in loads of amazing flowers and lush greenery to transform the downtown space into an urban oasis. We will have vintage touches, amazing cocktails, comfort food and a few surprises along the way. Everything has been specially curated to represent the couple’s style and personality. I can’t wait.
